Ikomed presented at the International SPIE Medical Imaging conference

Ikomed Technologies Inc. a developer of medical devices, presented a paper at this year’s International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) Medical Imaging conference. The online event was held starting Monday, February 15th 2021.
The paper, entitled “Automatic Detection and Tracking of the Region of Interest During Fluoroscopy-Guided Procedures for Radiation Exposure Reduction,” describes the Artificial Intelligence (AI) component of Ikomed’s AEGIS system that combines a fast electro-mechanical shutter, AI and image processing, and which was clinically proven to reduce X-ray radiation by >60% without degrading image quality. The system was cleared by the FDA and is marketed in the US as FluoroShieldTM by Omega Medical Imaging LLC.

Ikomed Technologies Inc. a developer of medical devices, will be presenting a paper at this year’s International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) Medical Imaging conference. The five-day event starting Monday February 15th will be held online this year due to COVID-19 and is attended by leading researchers in image processing, physics, computer-aided diagnosis, perception, image-guided procedures, biomedical applications, ultrasound, informatics, radiology and digital pathology.
